3331: Space Oddity
The largest space station in the Sol System is Taiyo Station. It is so large that it rivals the size of some dwarf planets. However, its design is less than elegant. Instead of merely designing a station of vast proportions, the station was built and then added to over time. The very core contains the power plant, but the outer most shell has been adorned with thousands of solar panels and radiation sinks, allowing for near infinite amounts of energy even for a station of such immensity.
It is nick-named “the Tumbleweed Station” because, with its seemingly random hallways, passages, and chambers constructed out in all directions from the core forming a loose spherical shape, it actually resembles a rolling tumbleweed quite closely.
One can find anything in Taiyo. Want a ship? One of the finest shipyards in the Milky Way galaxy resides in its outer branches. Need a star map? Nearly a hundred different cartography companies compete for business in its inner branches. Looking for the MWF police force? They have an outpost in each layer of the station; the outer and inner branches, and the core.
Though created mostly by the MWF and the humans therein, many alien races now call Taiyo home, creating their own unique business opportunities for travelers and locals alike. Unfortunately, there are quite a few humans that live on the station that don’t welcome the various ETs that come to shop, or rest, or make a home; especially the latter.
