Bounty Collection Agency

The Bounty Collection Agency is the largest debt collection firm in the Sol System. It is most famous for employing the equivalent of bounty hunters in order to collect on the large contracts it takes on. The average collection contract for the Bounty Collection Agency ranges in the hundreds of millions of credits, taking on debtors who have leased starships and disappeared, debtors who took out loans to build space stations and terraforming bases while embezzling the resources, debtors who are serial money borrowers, racking up enormous debt from multiple sources and moving on before anyone realizes what is happening.

While these jobs are rewarding in and of themselves, the Bounty Collection Agency also tends to take on contracts that contain elements of danger. Most other collection firms steer clear of contracts that could cause harm to their agents, because lost employees are lost revenues. However, the Bounty Collection Agency uses a system of open employment with its bounty hunter staff. It releases bounties for debtors as it receives them, allowing agents to decide which job is best for them. Then, it is simply a matter of completing the job before any of the other bounty hunters have a chance.

Timing is key for the employees of BCA, for only those that complete the job can collect the commission it rewards. These bounty hunters compete for ridiculously large bounties, so often a single pay-off is enough to keep them afloat for a very long time. Unfortunately, being one of these hunters most often requires a starship, making starting out rather difficult. Most hunters end up signing waivers to work for BCA in order to obtain a ship, working for the company until they can pay off the loaned vessel. However, signing the waiver also releases their right to deny a job if the BCA demands its completion.
